6 September 2024 14-16 MESZ (Venice time): Session in the context of BEYOND SKIN: “Cultural skin studies: enquiries from literature and culture” chaired by Dr Charlotte Mathieson (University of Surrey) and Dr Nicole Nyffeneger (University of Bern)

In this session, members of the international Cultural Skin Studies network will showcase what scholars of literature and culture “do with skin”. Through a series of five-minute lightening talks, each scholar will use a primary source open text as the basis for a live reading to give a hands-on demonstration of how we work with texts and cultural products when we work on skin.

The lightning talks will be followed by a discussion among participants and audience members.
Session outline:
2 PM: welcome, and introduction to the skin studies group
2:10 PM-3 PM: lightning talks from each participant
3-3:10 PM: short discussion and response from participant group
3:10 PM-4 PM: Q&A discussion with audience members
